Oh man, this brings back some memories...
Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson on the same team is amazing enough. Throw in there guys like Barkley, Ewing, Robinson, Malone, etc, etc... and it's... well... a DREAM.
I was incredibly into basketball in the early 90s. I was a Bulls fan and a Michael Jordan fan, and at this point the Bulls were just coming off their second championship. I was so incredibly excited for the Olympic games that I couldn't hardly contain myself. McDonalds was giving away Dream Team basketball cards, plus I was collecting all of the other cards I could get my hands on as well.
1992 might have been the only year that I was glued to the television for the Summer Olympics. Basketball was 90% of the reason for that, but the excitement for the Barcelona games actually made me watch a lot of other events, too. Every Olympic year since then I've been determined to watch a lot of events, but I rarely do.
Can you believe that was 16 years ago?!?!?
I'll leave you with a little highlight video...

Wow!
Oh man... I stumbled across these in an action figures forum. If these don't bring back memories, I don't know what will!

Crystar!
Does anyone out there remember Crystar?!?
I had several toys from this line... at least 7 action figures, which is a lot for a series that I didn't really know anything about. If there was a cartoon or a comic book, I never saw it. I did have a Crystar coloring book, too, but it didn't give any story background, so I didn't know much about the characters.
They were extremely cool, though. I pretty much played with them as Super heroes, since I didn't know the real story. I had Crystar, which was pictured above, then I had this guy...
which I assumed was his sidekick or something.
I had this guy...
who in my mind was the strongest bad guy I owned. In my world, Superman was the only one who could even begin to handle him! :-)
Anyway, I'm not sure what made me think of these guy, but I thought I'd make a post to see if anyone reading knew anything else about them.

This brings back some memories
I was such a huge fan of the Transformers as a kid. The show was definitely one of my two favorites (along with GI Joe), and the toys were extremely cool.
I remember my cousin had the Constructicons, which were the first set of robots that joined together into one big robot. I was pretty envious. I did end up getting all the Dinobots, though.
I tell you what, Hasbro went above and beyond with the Dinobots. They were shiny and metallic, which made them completely unique from the rest of the Transformers toys. When I got the Dinobots, they instantly became some of my most important toys.

Basketball
While it's certainly true that I'm a MUCH bigger football fan these days (go VIKINGS!), when I was a kid I was a huge basketball fan. I played organized basketball from my 5th grade year all the way through high school, and most of my free time was devoted to finding people to play ball with me, too.
Recently, probably because of an interest in watching the Celtics play in the finals and because I found NBA Live 06 for my XBox360 for $5 at my local K-Mart, I have re-developed my love for basketball. I'll admit that I haven't really followed basketball that closely for the past several years. It might be because my beloved Chicago Bulls have not been the same since 1998, but it's probably because the NBA in general does not have the same feel. In the late 80s through the 90s, the NBA seemed larger than life. Sure, the NBA has some huge stars these days... Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, etc, but in the 80s and 90s the stars just seemed so much bigger... Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Isaiah Thomas, Hakeem Olajuwan, Patrick Ewing, a young Shaquille O'Neal and of course Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan. Maybe I'm biased, but I really miss those days.
So, I leave you with this video. If this doesn't bring back memories, I don't know what will! :-)

Hello there!
Hey! My name is Jason. I grew up in the 80s and 90s, and I often think about all the great things we had back then, and all the great things going on. TV shows, sports stars, movies, music, toys... they all gave me a lot of fond memories. I thought I'd create this blog to share some of my thoughts about those things. Hopefully some of you reading will have some good memories to pass on, too.
