The 1992 Dream Team

Oh man, this brings back some memories...

Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson on the same team is amazing enough. Throw in there guys like Barkley, Ewing, Robinson, Malone, etc, etc... and it's... well... a DREAM.

I was incredibly into basketball in the early 90s. I was a Bulls fan and a Michael Jordan fan, and at this point the Bulls were just coming off their second championship. I was so incredibly excited for the Olympic games that I couldn't hardly contain myself. McDonalds was giving away Dream Team basketball cards, plus I was collecting all of the other cards I could get my hands on as well.

1992 might have been the only year that I was glued to the television for the Summer Olympics. Basketball was 90% of the reason for that, but the excitement for the Barcelona games actually made me watch a lot of other events, too. Every Olympic year since then I've been determined to watch a lot of events, but I rarely do.

Can you believe that was 16 years ago?!?!?

I'll leave you with a little highlight video...

Wow!

Oh man... I stumbled across these in an action figures forum. If these don't bring back memories, I don't know what will!

Crystar!

Does anyone out there remember Crystar?!?

I had several toys from this line... at least 7 action figures, which is a lot for a series that I didn't really know anything about. If there was a cartoon or a comic book, I never saw it. I did have a Crystar coloring book, too, but it didn't give any story background, so I didn't know much about the characters.

They were extremely cool, though. I pretty much played with them as Super heroes, since I didn't know the real story. I had Crystar, which was pictured above, then I had this guy...

which I assumed was his sidekick or something.

I had this guy...

who in my mind was the strongest bad guy I owned. In my world, Superman was the only one who could even begin to handle him! :-)

Anyway, I'm not sure what made me think of these guy, but I thought I'd make a post to see if anyone reading knew anything else about them.

This brings back some memories

I was such a huge fan of the Transformers as a kid. The show was definitely one of my two favorites (along with GI Joe), and the toys were extremely cool.

I remember my cousin had the Constructicons, which were the first set of robots that joined together into one big robot. I was pretty envious. I did end up getting all the Dinobots, though.

I tell you what, Hasbro went above and beyond with the Dinobots. They were shiny and metallic, which made them completely unique from the rest of the Transformers toys. When I got the Dinobots, they instantly became some of my most important toys.
